aaaaa The graphics in this game sets it apart and makes the game-play enjoyable to look at. It doesn’t really matter if the player can dribble, pass and shoot if you can’t see what he is doing. A soccer match in the game looks very similar to a soccer match on television. The scoreboard in the corner of the screen is even authentic to the home team. When a player with the ball is moved with the joystick the ball can be seen rolling on the player’s foot or spinning when a shot is taken. When it is raining the sky is dark and you can see the rain falling, splashing water when the ball is kicked and players run through puddles. Sometimes the camera zooms in on the players and their facial hair and sweat is visible. Substitutions can be made and the player runs over to the sideline and checks out underneath a lighted board just as it is in real life. Even the announcers add to the feel of authentic soccer, the announcers are the same as those on ESPN and both have English accents. The game is programmed so they commentate like a real soccer match; they even mention specific players’ names. The language of the commentators can even be changed, I choose Spanish which reminds me of watching soccer on the Spanish channel. |
aaaaaSome people would say that playing matches against the computer or with your friends would get boring after a few games. With this game there are different game modes that enable you to try something new once you get tired of playing a certain type of game. There are quick matches where you choose two teams and play. You can pick your favorite team and start a season in which you can play or simulate games in the season and try to win the championship. Tournaments can be set up with up to eight teams, so you can challenge all your friends in the game. The game can be played online as well, at any hour of the day you can find someone to play against. |
aaaaaIf playing actual matches gets boring you can choose to play only with your favorite player or a created player. In the “Be a Pro: Seasons” mode you can create a player and improve his stats or play as your favorite superstar. You only control your player and after each match you receive experience points which are used to improve the player’s attributes. After each season you can choose which team you would like to play for and the eventual goal is to build your player into the best in the world. Instead of playing and improving with just one player you can enter the Manager mode. In this mode you essentially control the operations of an entire soccer club, you make trades or sign players, decide on the style of game your team will play, and even choose an endorsement for the team’s jersey. |
